Accessible Dreams is a non-profit real estate developer, builder, and service provider, advocating for and specializing in the development of barrier-free homes. We build and design new homes or we modify existing homes in neighborhoods where our client with disability CHOOSES to live.
We found that the demand for accessible housing crosses over all demographics, including working persons with disabilities, persons on social security, veterans, seniors and families with children or parents with disabilities. This group represents a niche, but this niche represents a large community with unsatisfied demand that only continues to grow.
Today builders continue to build wth the same decades old standards. We continue to add thousands of new homes with the same size hallways and all the entrances to the home are the same, unaccessible size. Accessible Dreams is providing a voice that says we need to build 10% of every new community using Universal Design standards. Universal Design provides the basis for a “forever” home, and it doesn’t cost any more to add an entrance and one bath when you are building new. Just that one change, creates a home that a child with a disability can participate in a birthday party, or a grandmother with aging joints can enjoy Sunday dinner with her family.
About our Board of DirectorsAccessible Dreams Board of Directors is made up of persons who are very experienced in the challenges of finding barrier free home choices. They represent those who have disabilities from all walks of life and for many different reasons. Each one is dedicated to the mission of making barrier-free living and independence an easy and affordable choice.
Accessible Dreams is an affiliate organization of Tri-County Patriots for Independent Living (TRIPIL). TRIPIL is one of 17 Centers for Independent Living in the state of Pennsylvania whose mission it is to advocate for the civil rights for people with disabilities and promote living well with a disability in our local community. Through Accessible Dreams, TRIPIL is better able to provide options for independence for persons with disabilities by presenting them with opportunities for affordable, accessible home choice and the services to guide them through the moving process.
